Las Vegas, NV – September 28, 2024 – Oracle CloudWorld 2024 lit up Las Vegas with groundbreaking announcements, strategic partnerships, and visionary keynotes that are set to redefine the future of cloud computing. Amidst the vibrant energy of the conference, we at VESSL AI were honored to showcase our innovations as an Oracle partner, connect with industry leaders, and secure almost 200 valuable leads.
Our participation provided firsthand insights into how Oracle is not just keeping pace with the rapidly evolving tech landscape but is actively setting new benchmarks. We're excited to share the key highlights and takeaways from the event, which underscore the unimagined opportunities that lie ahead in the realms of AI, cloud infrastructure, and strategic collaboration.
The conference hall was immense, and there were countless side events to explore. We had the opportunity to connect with individuals from a wide variety of companies and regions at OCW side events. Attending multiple keynotes provided us with valuable insights, but one of the most enriching experiences was the networking opportunities. We had the chance to meet professionals from NVIDIA, JP Morgan Chase, Meta, Oracle, and various GPU resource providers. Below are some of the side events we participated in.

The event commenced with an electrifying keynote from Oracle CEO, Safra Catz. Her speech painted a vivid picture of Oracle’s 47-year journey, emphasizing the company's evolution from a technology provider to a strategic partner dedicated to empowering businesses.
We heard several success stories that illustrated the real-world impact of Oracle’s cloud solutions and strategic partnerships.
We heard from Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts, who shared how Oracle’s Fusion technology has revolutionized their operations. During the onset of COVID-19, MGM Resorts utilized Oracle Opera and Fusion to facilitate remote work, ensuring seamless operations amidst the pandemic. Additionally, they have integrated Oracle products into various business sectors, including finance management and the check-in process.
A particularly critical innovation highlighted was the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to assess customer calls. MGM Resorts handles an impressive average of 15,000-20,000 calls per day. Hornbuckle mentioned that it is essential for them to identify and evaluate which calls are genuine and require attention.
La’Naia Jones from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) provided a profound testament to Oracle’s enduring partnership since 1977. She highlighted how Oracle’s robust security features and data-driven solutions are pivotal in safeguarding national security. Jones elaborated on the CIA’s use of generative AI to enhance cybersecurity, streamline operations, and support mission-critical decisions, showcasing Oracle’s impact on even the most sensitive and high-stakes environments.
A critical aspect of the CIA’s operations involves leveraging data and AI across various sectors, including logistics. Jones emphasized:
“Everything we do from logistics to supply chain to cyber, to finance, to human resources, we want to be able to have that to help augment everything we do.”
Representatives Bernard Gavgani and Jean-Yves Fillion from BNP Paribas illustrated the bank’s strategic alliance with Oracle. They detailed their migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), enabling centralized data management across 18 countries and 16 currencies. Their collaboration has not only streamlined operations but also driven sustainable finance initiatives, positioning BNP Paribas as a leader in both technology adoption and environmental stewardship.
During the Cloudflare session, Michelle Zatlyn, co-founder of Cloudflare, provided valuable insights into the evolving multi-cloud landscape and how businesses are increasingly adopting multi-cloud environments. According to Zatlyn, more than 50% of companies now utilize multi-cloud setups, and this trend is only growing.
Zatlyn stressed the importance of data residency and compliance, revealing that 71% of countries have enacted laws requiring data localization in the past three years. She concluded by emphasizing Cloudflare’s commitment to partnerships and customer success, reflecting the company’s belief that the future of cloud technology is built on collaboration, security, and flexibility. This session reinforced the significance of providing the flexibility and security that users demand and echoed these same values in our work at VESSL AI.
We also heard from Antonio Buchi, CEO of Entel, Chile’s largest telecommunications company. He shared his journey of digital transformation powered by Oracle. Buchi emphasized their commitment to customer satisfaction, pointing out their high Net Promoter Score (NPS), which reflects the loyalty of their customers.
Buchi explained that Entel has been using AI to predict network quality, which has resulted in a 60% reduction in customer churn. He noted that this application of AI goes beyond just improving efficiency—it directly enhances the customer experience. Additionally, by utilizing Oracle NetSuite, Entel has been able to streamline their operations, allowing them to make more efficient and targeted investments, he mentioned.
Larry Ellison, Co-Founder and CTO of Oracle, delivered a visionary keynote that underscored Oracle's strategic pivot towards a multi-cloud future and the integration of AI in enhancing cybersecurity. Larry's presentation showcased Oracle's dedication to innovation, interoperability, and providing secure, high-performance cloud solutions tailored to diverse customer needs.
Larry began his keynote by highlighting the significance of adopting a multi-cloud strategy in today's complex business environment. Businesses are no longer reliant on a single cloud provider; instead, they utilize multiple platforms to optimize performance, cost, and flexibility. Oracle’s approach ensures that customers can leverage services from AWS, Microsoft, and Google without facing the integration challenges that often accompany multi-cloud setups.
A major highlight was Oracle's initiative to embed Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data centers within AWS. This strategic move is designed to significantly boost performance and reduce latency for customers using both platforms. By embedding OCI directly within AWS data centers, Oracle provides a more integrated and efficient cloud experience, allowing businesses to run their workloads seamlessly across both environments. The OCI in AWS service will be available in December 2024.
This move resonates with our focus at VESSL AI on efficiency and performance in AI model deployment. The ability to operate across multiple cloud environments without interoperability issues aligns with our commitment to providing flexible and scalable solutions for our clients.
Larry introduced two groundbreaking infrastructure solutions: Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer (DRC@C) and Oracle Alloy. DRC@C allows businesses to deploy a full Oracle cloud region within their own data centers, ensuring compliance with local data residency and sovereignty laws. This solution provides unparalleled control and security, making it ideal for organizations with stringent regulatory requirements.
Oracle Alloy complements this offering by enabling seamless integration with other cloud providers, facilitating a true hybrid and sovereign cloud experience. These innovations demonstrate Oracle's commitment to providing flexible and scalable cloud solutions that meet the diverse needs of modern enterprises—a commitment that mirrors our own efforts to deliver adaptable AI and MLOps platforms.
Transitioning to the topic of AI-driven security, Larry emphasized the elimination of traditional passwords in favor of biometric authentication. He criticized complex passwords as a "terrible idea" due to the security vulnerabilities they introduce. Oracle is pioneering the use of biometric databases to authenticate users based on fingerprints, facial recognition, and voice recognition, making unauthorized access nearly impossible.
He also showcased the Autonomous Database, which leverages AI to eliminate human labor and errors in database management. This fully autonomous system handles configuration, encryption, backups, and updates without human intervention, significantly reducing the risk of data breaches caused by misconfigurations or negligence.
These advancements in AI-driven security align closely with VESSL AI's mission to build secure, reliable MLOps solutions for enterprises. Clay Magouyrk, Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) leader, shared key advancements in cloud infrastructure, with a focus on Dedicated Region 25 and OCI Superclusters. His presentation emphasized Oracle's ongoing transformation of cloud operations, scalability, and strategic partnerships.
Magouyrk introduced Dedicated Region 25, a cutting-edge solution that departs from conventional cloud setups. This innovation packs a full cloud region into just three racks, providing the flexibility to scale down while ensuring the ability to grow as demand increases.
Key improvements include optimizing server performance, maximizing capacity, strengthening rack-level security, and automating installation processes. This achievement drastically reduces space and energy usage while giving businesses full control over their cloud environments.
OCI Superclusters were highlighted as a critical advancement in supporting AI workloads. These clusters combine the latest innovations in cooling, power, RDMA networking, and file storage services to offer businesses unprecedented computing power for AI training and deployment.
Magouyrk demonstrated how these clusters allow organizations to execute complex AI models more efficiently, leading to faster innovation and maintaining a competitive edge.
Oracle's partnerships with Google Cloud and Fujitsu were underscored as part of their strategy to enhance multi-cloud capabilities. These collaborations enable Oracle customers to integrate services across platforms seamlessly. For example, Oracle’s partnership with Google Cloud allows Oracle databases to run directly within Google’s infrastructure, creating a unified multi-cloud environment that optimizes service delivery and performance.
At Oracle CloudWorld 2024, Oracle and Cohere showcased their strong partnership, demonstrating how they leverage their combined strengths to create AI-driven innovations. Their collaboration focuses on building advanced AI agents by integrating Oracle Fusion and Cohere’s Large Language Model (LLM) services, specifically targeting the enterprise market.
Oracle and Cohere’s partnership was a central theme during the sessions, with a clear focus on the power of AI agents. During the event, they presented a live demo of Oracle Fusion HCM integrated with Cohere’s AI solutions. The demo was highly impressive, showcasing seamless workflows powered by their AI agents and highlighting the unique strengths of this collaboration.
One of the standout features of this partnership is the use of Oracle Cloud for RAG alongside Cohere’s LLM services. This integration offers a distinctive edge, allowing businesses to utilize private data in secure, intelligent ways. Oracle’s robust cloud infrastructure, combined with Cohere’s cutting-edge AI, sets this collaboration apart from other solutions in the market.
Cohere is committed to an enterprise-focused approach, with solutions designed specifically for large organizations. During the session, Aidan Gomez, co-founder and CEO of Cohere, emphasized that their primary market strategy revolves around enterprise utility, with notable customers like Nomura Research already leveraging Cohere's models.
Aidan further explained that Cohere is investing heavily in enhancing RAG within their LLM models. This technology is particularly effective at reducing hallucinations in AI outputs, which is a critical improvement for enterprise applications. To achieve these advancements, Cohere has hired over 1,000 experts across various sectors, each contributing to the development and fine-tuning of the LLMs to solve specific problems and challenges.
Both Oracle and Cohere see a future driven by multi-agent systems, where AI agents can perform complex tasks autonomously, reducing human intervention and improving efficiency across industries. This vision aligns with the broader trend in AI, and as a result, many organizations are gearing up for this shift.
